Temperatures on Monday will reach the low 50s, but frigid conditions await by the end of the week in New Jersey, forecasters say.

says the Jersey Shore will probably get about a half-inch to an inch of accumulation while inland parts of South Jersey will end up with a half-inch or less. Areas from Middlesex and Mercer counties north aren’t likely see any snow.

“It needs to be stressed that forecast confidence is lower than average and if the wave is weaker and farther south there will be little to no snow accumulation while if it’s farther north much of eastern Pennsylvania could get 1-3 inches of snow,” the weather service said in its Monday morning forecast discussion.

Conditions turn sharply colder on Friday with temps only making it into the 20s before the mercury plunges into single-digits overnight.
