Darrell Dean Dakan is charged with open murder in the killing of his son, Joshua Dakan, 38, outside of the older man’s home nearThe killing happened around 7:15 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27, on East Pierce Drive in Newaygo County’s Monroe Township.“A witness indicated the victim said, ‘Why don’t you just shoot me?’” Prosecutor Ellsworth Stay told District Judge Kevin Drake on Wednesday.
The judge granted the prosecutor’s request to continue to hold Darrell Dakan without bond. Stay said that alcohol was “prominent” in Dakan’s life and has led to “anger or other problems.”
