The incident occurred around 2:21 p.m. when the dump truck collided with a tractor-trailer on a nearby highway. The impact sent the dump truck careening off course and directly into the Target store, creating a large hole in its exterior.
Authorities reported that at least five people were injured in the crash, including a woman who was thrown from a Target bathroom during the impact and sustained serious injuries. Some of the victims were transported to local hospitals, but the extent of their injuries was not immediately released. Thankfully, there were no reported fatalities as of Friday afternoon.The Tonnelle Avenue Target store suffered extensive damage, and the road was temporarily closed in both directions near 70th Street while emergency crews responded to the scene. The tractor-trailer involved in the initial collision was found wrapped around a utility pole.
