Duke's Cayden Boozer and his twin brother, Cameron Boozer, likely just played their final game together. It ended in disaster.
The Blue Devils led the No. 2 UConn Huskies, 72-70, when freshman guard Cayden Boozer collected an outlet pass near halfcourt. He was immediately surrounded by Huskies and tried to heave it over them to a wide-open Patrick Ngongba II.
The pass was deflected and recovered by UConn, and Braylon Mullins swished a logo three with 0.3 seconds left to win it, 73-72. Just like that, Duke became the first No. 1 seed to lose after leading by 15 points or more at halftime in NCAA Tournament history. No. 1 seeds were 134-0 in that scenario before Duke's collapse. After the game, Boozer handled himself gracefully at his locker. He walked WRAL's Brian Murphy through the disastrous last play.."I saw two people down there, Isaiah and Pat , just trying to get them the ball because Isaiah is our best free-throw shooter."When asked to reflect on his freshman season alongside Cameron Boozer, his twin brother, Boozer said it had been"a special year." He processed that it was the final year he and his brother would have control over being able to play together, and he was"never going to pass that up."Matt GilesSadly, nobody will remember it now, but Cayden Boozer stepped up for Duke while Caleb Foster . Against UConn, he finished with 15 points on 4-of-5 shooting , six assists, five rebounds, and two steals. If UConn had fouled Boozer at halfcourt, he had been 6-of-6 at the stripe on the day.and is expected to be a top-3 pick in this summer's 2026 NBA Draft. But he isn't thinking about any of that right now. "I'm hurting right now," a visibly emotional Cameron Boozer said during his postgame press conference."We're all hurting." UConn will face No. 3 Illinois, while the other side of the bracket features No. 1 Arizona against No. 1 Michigan. Both Final Four games are scheduled for April 4 in Indianapolis.
