Authorities in Florida say they have arrested and charged 31-year-old Joseph Garrett Duggar.
/Gray News) - Authorities in Florida said they arrested and charged 31-year-old Joseph Garrett Duggar with lewd and lascivious behavior involving unlawful sexual activity with a minor., investigators were contacted Wednesday by a Tontitown police detective in Arkansas about a report of past sexual abuse.
The 14-year-old victim, during a forensic interview, reportedly disclosed incidents involving Duggar during a family vacation in Panama City Beach when she was 9. According to the investigation, the events happened when the family was staying at a home in Panama City. The sheriff’s office said the victim reported Duggar repeatedly asked her to sit on his lap, sit beside him on a couch and cover her with a blanket. Authorities said Duggar manipulated the girl’s underwear, grazed her genitals and rubbed his hands on her thighs. Investigators said the young girl told them that Duggar eventually apologized, and the acts stopped following the apology. This week, the girl’s father confronted Duggar about what happened. The 31-year-old then admitted his actions to the girl’s father and to Tontitown detectives, the sheriff’s office said.The Duggar family member who appeared on TLC’s “19 Kids and Counting” is currently awaiting extradition to Bay County.
