However, the Stars dominated the game after the first period, outshooting the Sharks 16-5 in the opening frame.Returning to San Jose just a week after being traded to the Stars, Mikael Granlund had two assists in the game. Cody Ceci also played against his former team. The win was a much-needed bounce-back for the Stars, who lost in a shootout to Los Angeles the previous night. The Stars' 4 Nations break comes at a good time for the injury-riddled team, with Ilya Lyubushkin expected to heal during the break and Miro Heiskanen listed as month-to-month after undergoing knee surgery. The Sharks, meanwhile, have lost 10 of their last 11 games and were unable to maintain the momentum from their early lead against a Stanley Cup contender. Macklin Celebrini reached 40 points with an assist on the Sharks' first goal, becoming the fifth rookie in team history and the first since Logan Couture in 2010-11 to reach that mark. The NHL is off for the 4 Nations Face-off, with the Stars resuming play February 22 at New Jersey and the Sharks facing Calgary on February 23
