The Dublin Gaels secured a hard-fought victory over their rival Dougherty Valley Wildcats, 64-61. The game was particularly emotional due to the return of former Dublin player Jalen Stokes to his old team. With under 30 seconds left in the game, Dougherty Valley senior guard Cole Roque scored a layup to make the score 62-61 as the Wildcats put themselves in a position to take the lead late. With all that has transpired over the last year, Friday’s game took an emotional toll on both teams. Although disappointed with the outcome, Dougherty Valley coach Mike Hansen said he felt a sense of relief following the defeat.
