Transport for London has launched an eight-week consultation of the level of charges for the Blackwall and Silvertown tunnels.

Car drivers using two tunnels in east London will be charged up to £4 a time from next year under new proposals. The charge will apply to anyone using a car in the Blackwall and Silvertown tunnels during peak hours under Transport for London plans. Peak hours are weekdays going northbound between 6am and 10am or southbound from 4pm until 7pm. TfL, which has launched an eight-week consultation on the level of charges, plans to reduce the fee to £1.
