After the 50-year-old man crashed his vehicle, he threw a victim from the shoulder and attempted to rob numerous vehicles in York County before 3:30 p.m.

A 50-year-old man was arrested after crashing his vehicle on I-83 in an attempt to carjack people who stopped to help him Tuesday in York County, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Police were dispatched around 3:20 p.m. to I-83 south after receiving reports of two men fighting. Police said they determined the following: Timothy Shaw, of York County, was driving a white GMC Yukon south on I-83 when he crashed into a concrete median and veered off the roadway at mile marker 19.5 in Springettsbury Township, police said.The crash caused several drivers to stop and help Shaw, but “he attempted to forcibly steal their vehicles,” police said.

Police said he threw one person from the shoulder onto I-83 and attempted to rob multiple southbound vehicles.Police said they found drug paraphernalia and a violation of the medical marijuana act inside his vehicle.Shaw was charged with robbery, robbery of a motor vehicle, recklessly endangering another person, driving under the influence, simple assault, medical marijuana act violation, possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal mischief and summary traffic violations, police said.
