I work from home mostly these days and my wife Clare does all the recipes for our books, so we often meet in the kitchen and have a chat about our lives and I’ll have another cup of coffee. I’ll do some stretches and pace around a bit.: Lunch. I’ll have warmed up leftovers from last night, because we tend to cook excess. It’ll be somethingstyle, based around fish or meat, with a pile of veg. Clare is a good cook and I’m competent. If we have no leftovers, we’ll have some soup and nuts.
One of my favourite dinners is salmon, as it’s so easy to bang in the oven and have with brown rice and veg. My love for it surprises me because I never used to eat fish. But then, in 2021, I discovered I had type 2 diabetes. I wasn’t especially overweight, I didn’t look fat, but I did have fat clogging my organs. I wanted to get rid of it, and I knew I had to change my lifestyle.
through weight loss, and through pushing myself to eat fish and vegetables. Now, my tastes have changed and I love all that.If it’s Friday, Saturday or Sunday, I might have a few glasses of red wine, but I try not to drink during the week. We tend to do four days off drinking, three days on. I like having a drink but alcohol doesn’t actually agree with me, it makes me feel tired and grumpy rather than cheerful and upbeat.

Heart valves made in minutes control blood flow immediately after being implanted into sheepResearchers have developed a method for cheaply producing heart valves in the span of minutes that are functional immediately after being implanted into sheep. The scientists call their method 'Focused Rotary Jet Spinning,' which they describe as 'a cotton-candy machine with a hair dryer behind it.' Though long-term in vivo studies are needed to test the valves' endurance, they effectively controlled blood flow for an hour in sheep. The prototype appears June 7 in the journal Matter.
