The string lighting is part of a two-year project with the Downtown Jonesboro Alliance. Executive director Sarah Doss says since 2018, $80,000 has been invested in improving lighting in downtown. The final section of lights will be installed next week.
“We are about to do our second and final phase of this two-year project for our string lights ,” said Sarah Doss, Executive Director of the Downtown Jonesboro Alliance .“When we got that approval, we jumped in both feet with a two-year project.
“It is such a fun project in the sense it is eye-catching; it’s something that we do in a day, and everybody notices. So, it’s just so important to us. It’s beautiful and aesthetic, and it’s a multi-faceted project, where it’s helpful with security, and the lights are beautiful. It’s something that we’re very proud of,” Doss adds with a smile.
Throughout the project, the Downtown Jonesboro Alliance has worked alongside the company Outdoor Lighting Perspective to bring the dream to life. During recent severe weather, some of the string lights took a hit, but Doss says they will be replaced. “A couple strands of string lights come down, so we have removed those for the time being, and when we do our final installation, we will hang that backup, and we will be, all of our maintenance will be done. It will be great,” she said.
