Pizza Leila will open at NorthPark in July 2024, making it one of few local restaurants in the shopping center's food court.
The restaurant started as a pandemic pop-up and has now landed one of the most coveted retail spots in Dallas.One day last spring, chef Ji Kang and his team were prepping the kitchen at the newly opened Pizza Leila in downtown Dallas when a woman walked through the normally-locked front doors before lunch service.
“We were really surprised because there are a lot of great brands there like Chick-fil-A and Shake Shack,” Kang said. “I couldn’t believe it that we’re going to be right next door to these guys.”Landing one of the most sought-after retail spots in the metroplex was not on Kang’s Bingo card when heand Sloane’s Corner, he had to find a way to keep feeding people when the pandemic shut restaurants shut down.
Kang plans to experiment a bit at the NorthPark location. He wants to try some fusion ideas he has rolling around in his head, like an Indian-inspired pizza, maybe a Korean one.
