Plaza of the Americas was Dallas' first atrium shopping center and the first with an ice-skating rink.A new company has taken over leasing for downtown Dallas’ largest shopping center. And the firm has a long history with the property.
Dallas-based retail property firm Weitzman was just hired to lease the shopping and restaurant space at Plaza of the Americas, which has 132,000 square feet of retail space in the lower levels of the high-rise property on Pearl Street. Back in the late 1970s when the more than 1 million-square-foot Plaza of the Americas opened, it was downtown’s first such mixed-use project.Weitzman founder Herbert Weitzman was part of Henry S. Miller’s original leasing team for the property.
The Plaza of the Americas got a major overhaul in 2013, with a parklike public space replacing the original ice-skating rink at the bottom of the atrium.
