Western and South Australia appear set for a miserable week in large parts, while Melbourne remains in the icy grip of a cold snap and dangerous surf batters the NSW coast on Thursday.

Sky News Australia Meteorologist Rob Sharpe explained the wild and windy weather which descended on Perth and parts of south-west WA overnight was now easing, although showers and lower temperatures are expected to persist in the state throughout the coming days.Forecasters are predicting cold and inclement weather is set to continue across large parts of the country this week, with WA and SA set to see a torrent of rain over the next five days.
Forecasters expect rainfall totals of 15mm to 30mm over the next five days throughout the Pilbara parts of the Kimberley, and the WA interior, while isolated parts of the state could see totals as high as 30mm to 60mm.The wet weather band is expected to bring showers to parts of SA as it moves across the bight, while the Bureau of Meteorology has also issued"strong wind warnings" for parts of the state's coastline on Thursday and Friday.
Byron Coast, Coffs Coast, Macquarie Coast, Hunter Coast, Sydney Coast, and Illawarra Coast locals should be prepared for strong winds over Thursday and Friday, while"damaging surf" is pounding the coastline from Kempsey through to Newcastle on the state's mid-north coast.
