Huntsman CEO Peter Huntsman speaks about energy transition and climate initiatives during a panel at Where Cheminals Connect 2023 Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at Hilton Americas-Houston in Houston. Huntsman talks about his father created shell containers for fast food restaurants to preserve food.
The two spoke in consecutive panels Wednesday during the annual World Petrochemical Conference hosted by S&P Global in downtown Houston, which was attended by roughly 1,500 people from more than 50 countries. "It's worth it," Fitterling said of the project."If you take several sites, several industrial sites that we have around the world, you could put a cluster of those small reactors onsite and take the entire site to net zero."
He said after traveling around Europe in recent weeks that the energy transition unfolding is"largely off track." He pointed to a German initiative he heard about that involves spending"billions and billions" building wind and solar farms to produce green hydrogen in Namibia, shipping it to Spain and transporting it around Europe via pipeline. He called it"nonsense."
