Donald Trump Jr. spent much of his Wednesday night prime-time speech praising how his father confronted the assassination attempt against him. The former president's firstborn son flashed the widely-distributed photo of his father on screen before talking about what happened after the gunman fired his shots. “He may have moved to the ground, but he stood back up,” Don Trump Jr. said.
“And when he did, my father raised his fist into the air, he looked out at the crowd — and what did he say?” The crowd then joined in to yell, “Fight! Fight! Fight!” “I have never been prouder of my father than in that moment,” Don Trump Jr. continued. “That is when the world found out there is tough — and then there is Trump tough. The good news is, America is Trump tough.” Don Trump Jr. was heavily involved in encouraging his father to choose J.D. Vance to be his running mate.
