King Charles III will visit America despite calls to cancel over U.S. President Donald Trump's war in Iran.

King Charles III will officially visit Washington, D.C., at the invitation of U.S. President Donald Trump in late April, Buckingham Palace announced today, despite opposition to the plans in the U.K. The British monarch will fly out to meet the president and will help mark the 250th anniversary of American independence against the backdrop of tensions between the U.

The palace is yet to reveal the full details of the trip but Democratic California Representative Ro Khanna said in a letter to Charles released this week that an address to Congress was planned for the week commencing April 27., though that may prove too great a strain on diplomatic relations between to the two countries, given Trump's unfounded claims that the Epstein scandal"At a time when Trump has launched an illegal war that is devastating the Middle East and pushing up energy bills for British families, it's clear this visit should not go ahead. "A state visit from our King would be seen as yet another huge diplomatic coup for President Trump, so it should not be given to someone who repeatedly insults and damages our country."The visit will take place in late April and a more detailed itinerary will be published by the palace in due course.
