THE Department of Justice revealed on Thursday that it is now gathering evidence to be able to file a strong case of economic sabotage against those involved in the smuggling, hoarding and price fixing of onion and other agricultural products.
“We are looking at the minutes of the congressional hearings and of course we will look at our own notes to be able to put together a good case of economic sabotage against those who insist on the creation of a cartel within the country, which is definitely against the law,” Remulla said. This was in response to the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for the agency to lead the probe and hold those responsible for the illegal activity accountable.
Also part of the task force are the Office of the Prosecutor General, headed by Chief State Prosecutor Richard Fadullon and the National Bureau of Investigation headed by Director Medardo de Lemos.
