The Los Angeles Dodgers cruised past the Arizona Diamondbacks 8-2 in their MLB Opening Day matchup Thursday. Here's how it unfolded.

Los Angeles hosted the Arizona Diamondbacks in an early NL West matchup, cruising to an 8-2 win after trailing 2-0 in the fourth. Once the Dodgers reclaimed the league in the very next inning, they never looked back and Arizona struggled to reimpose itself.

Geraldo Perdomo hit a two-run homer off Yoshinobu Yamamoto in the top of the fourth to seize a 2-0 lead, causing an early headache for LA. But a busy fifth saw the Dodgers take control and frustrate Arizona's pitchers. Andy Pages hit a three-run homer to bring in Max Muncy and Teoscar Hernandez, while a Will Smith infield single saw Miguel Rojas score. Smith's RBI came off Juan Morillo after starter Zac Gallen was replaced. LA loaded the bases after in the same inning, but couldn't deal more damage.Los Angeles added to its cushion in the eighth. Kyle Tucker got his Dodger debut off to a solid start, doubling to right that brought home Ohtani. Right after, Mookie Betts hit a deep single to center to allow Tucker to round home.Get Los Angeles's latest local news on crime, entertainment, weather, schools, cost of living and more.
