'We recognize that many parents would prefer to discuss certain subjects with their children,' part of Disney's statement reads.
Disney has pulled a transgender storyline from the Pixar original animated series Win or Lose, citing the needs of parents. The series follows the Pickles, a co-ed middle school softball team, throughout the week as they prepare for their upcoming championship game. Each of the eight episodes focuses on a different character and their life off the field, including 'the insecure kids, their helicopter parents' and 'even a lovesick umpire.
The company later shifted its stance and announced that it would be pausing all political donations in Florida. Chapek also apologized, stating he should have been 'a stronger ally.''I truly believe we are an infinitely better and stronger company because of our LGBTQ+ community. I missed the mark in this case but am an ally you can count on—and I will be an outspoken champion for the protections, visibility, and opportunity you deserve,' Chapek said in a statement.
