Although physical media seems to be dying out, box sets are always an exciting release, especially from major studios like Disney. Not only do they contain loads of beloved films, but they also often come with all kinds of cool special features, collectibles, and more.
2023 is the 100th anniversary of the Walt Disney company, with the various studios and other branches pulling out all the stops to celebrate the milestone this year. An all-new animated film titled Wish is set to release, and a short film titled Once Upon a Studio will celebrate many of the studio's most iconic characters before the movie.
Besides just the movies, the Disney Animated Legacy Film Collection also contains some fun collectibles. The set will include a lithograph print from Disney's upcoming film Wish, a crystal set of Mickey ears with the Disney100 logo engraved on them, and a certificate of authenticity. Alongside the Blu-rays and collectibles, the set also includes a digital code for every film included in the collection, meaning that buyers will have 100 digital copies as well.
Since the set costs $1,500 and contains 100 movies, that works out to around $15 per movie. This is pretty high for most Disney Blu-rays, as many of them can be bought for around $10 or less brand new. Due to the popularity of Disney Blu-rays, they typically go for even cheaper on the used marketplace. Although many of the films in the collection retail for below the average price, this isn't always the case.
How Many Months Of Disney+ You Could Get For The Same Price As Disney's 100 Movie Box Set The Disney Animated Legacy Film Collection may not seem worth it to many Disney+ subscribers, as all of these films can be found on the streaming service. The cheapest Disney+ tier currently costs $7.99 per month, meaning that before tax, you could get around 187 months of Disney+ for the price of the box set. The box set is also worth 136 months of the $10.
