Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has accused the Prime Minister of being"dishonest" with the public after Anthony Albanese denied contacting former Qantas CEO Alan Joyce for flight upgrades.
“Every time he does a press conference, I think there are more questions that need to be answered than he's provided,” Mr Dutton said. The Opposition Leader also pushed for Mr Albanese to clarify his government's decision to block Qantas' competitor Qatar Airways from receiving additional flight slots in 2023.The Coalition's attack on Mr Albanese led him to accuse Mr Dutton of taking"flights on private jets owned by billionaires like Gina Rinehart" on Tuesday.
“I thought that was very expensive and the cheaper option for the taxpayer was for my office to speak to Ms Rinehart’s office as to whether the plane might be available."alleged Mr Albanese solicited flight upgrades from Joyce. He was repeatedly asked if he had contacted the former Qantas CEO to ask for upgrades to which he said, “The only discussions that I can recall with Alan Joyce ... Certainly we discussed the first flight from Australia to Dubai on an A380".
