A disaster declaration has been signed for more than a dozen Pennsylvania counties to help farmers impacted by below-freezing temperatures that happened in April. It opens the doors for farmers to apply for emergency loans through the USDA's Farm Service Agency.
Officials said those loans can be used for recovery needs, that includes replacing essential items like equipment or livestock, reorganize farming operations, or refinance certain debts. The Farm Service Agency will review the loan applications based on the extent of losses, security available, and repayment ability. Farmers in 17 counties can apply for the loans if they were affected by below-freezing temperatures from April 19 - April 21, 2026.
