The fall 2023 ready-to-wear circuit is in full swing. From New York, to London, to Milan, to Paris, it promises to be a fantastic season, with a few debuts in store. Follow along here for trend recaps, behind-the-scenes commentary, and much, much more.
At his menswear show for JW Anderson in January, Jonathan Anderson reissued the infamous ruffle shorts from his fall 2013 collection. He cut the new version in leather, added some hardware, and made them a bit edgier, tougher. This past weekend at his women’s show, he took an even deeper dive into his archive, collaborating with the choreographer Michael Clark.
The draped leather skirts paired with arm-banded turtlenecks from fall 2013 came back featuring Clark’s artwork, while the fall 2019 tailored colorblock dress with draped accents resurfaced in a relaxed fit and cut in solid white. His fall 2020 oversized coats with hulking lapels returned with the body cut slightly slimmer, while the spring 2017 donut-hem sweater got a wider neckline. It was interesting to see these hero pieces from the last 15 years all together.
