DFA: 152 more Filipinos abroad infected with COVID19; total at 1,337

MANILA—The Department of Foreign Affairs on Saturday reported that 152 more Filipinos abroad are infected with the coronavirus disease 2019 , raising the total to 1,337.

The DFA said in a statement that most of the new Filipino COVID-19 patients overseas were from the Middle East. Of the 1,337 cases, 825 are under treatment while 328 others recovered or were discharged from hospital and 184 died. "For the past month, an increasing trend of confirmed cases has been noted with an average of 37 cases per day, while there is a steady rate of recoveries and deaths at 7 and 5 cases per day, respectively," the department said."In terms of regional data, most of the confirmed cases are among our OFs in the European region, highest number of recoveries were reported in Asia and the Pacific, and most cases of fatalities are in the Americas.

As of Friday, the disease has infected more than 2.6 million people worldwide, killing over 180,000 since it first emerged in China, according to the World Health Organization.
