New Brannock Limited has contacted North Lanarkshire Council concerning its planned neighbourhood centre in Torrance Park, which received planning approval in late 2021.

A developer has requested that wording concerning the conditions around planning permission for a project in Motherwell be clarified in order to remove any confusion over the use of commercial units to be built at the site.

The company has requested that “for the avoidance of doubt” a condition attached to that earlier approval specify that the eight commercial units included in the development may only be used by shops and services and businesses involved in food and drink.Get all the news from your area – as well as features, entertainment, sport and the latest on Lanarkshire’s recovery from the coronavirus pandemic – straight to your fingertips, 24/7.

The development is intended to benefit the increasing amount of housing in the vicinity of the park, where just two major developments are bringing around 1,000 new homes, which are considered to be outside reasonable walking distance from the town centres in either Motherwell or Bellshill, so businesses operating there would expected to increase amenity for residents without negatively impacting trade for established traders. *Don't miss the latest headlines from around Lanarkshire.
