A mother in Detroit is facing multiple charges, including murder, after allegedly killing her 9-year-old son and burying him in a shallow grave . Brandee Katrice Pierce, 41, is accused of murdering Zemar King III in October 2024. According to Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy, Pierce allegedly killed King and then purchased a shovel, dug a hole behind the garage of her rental home on Woodingham, and buried his body.
The child's hands and feet were bound, and an autopsy revealed that King died from neck compression and smothering. Pierce then allegedly fled to Georgia with her other son, who is 3 years old. King's body was discovered on January 6th when crews working at the rental home noticed a foot protruding from the ground. While the body wasn't found until this year, Pierce became a focus of police in Georgia on December 20th, 2024, due to an unrelated investigation involving her 3-year-old son. The Cobb County Sheriff's Office in Georgia contacted Detroit police and assisted with the investigation into King's murder. Pierce was arrested on January 10th and is awaiting extradition to Michigan. Her surviving son is currently in foster care
