Watson gave Browns fans a sneak preview of the future Sunday, and the future looks bright.
The Browns forced a three-and-out on the Commanders’ first drive of the second half, and then went down and scored on a 46-yard catch-and-run by Cooper to go ahead 10-7 with 10:03 left in the third quarter.
They mustered a 37-yard Cade York field out of Ward’s pick on Wentz’s opening drive, and that was it. As it was, they had to settle for a field goal on that march after Watson’s third down pass to David Njoku was broken up at the 10 by cornerback Danny Johnson. The Browns took over at their 42, but also turned the ball over on downs when Chase Young stopped Watson for a 1-yard gain on fourth and 3 from the 3.
