Besides discussing head coach Kevin Stefanski, Watson talked about his future in Cleveland on Thursday. “My main focus is winning,” he said. “I came to Cleveland to win a Super Bowl.'

Following Saturday’s 17-10 loss to the Saints, Watson’s rating tumbled to 69.3 thanks to his brutal numbers in the the harsh winter conditions at FirstEnergy Stadium, where he went 15 of 31 for 135 yards with no touchdowns and one interception. But factor in the three dropped touchdown passes, and the drop by David Bell that was picked off, and Watson would’ve gone 19 of 31 for 182 yards with two TDs and no INTs for a 99.1 rating — outstanding for the minus-16 wind chills and 30 mph wind gusts.

“My main focus is winning,” he said. “I came to Cleveland to win a Super Bowl. So by any means, if that’s throwing the ball five times or throwing the ball 40 times and scoring five touchdowns or scoring zero touchdowns, as long as we win, that’s all I really matter and that’s all I really care about.

“My main focus is listening to what Kevin, Drew , AVP and the staff have to say and what they feel like I’m getting better at and not so much of what the outside people observe,” he said. “Absolutely. Absolutely,” Van Pelt said. “These two last games are critical for us. We need to see where we are. We want to see everybody. We want to win these last two games. We’ll go 1-0 hopefully this week, and then we’ll reevaluate for next week. We want to win these games. It means a lot to this locker room, and it means a lot to the leadership of this team. Nobody is looking to shut anything down.

“Of course, offensively, especially as a quarterback offensively, we want to score more points,” Watson said. “So not just for me but just for the whole offense, we want to score points and put ourselves in position to put a game away and help our defense out, our special teams out. And I know it’s a team game and we have to complement each other, but we can help ourselves offensively, and I take pride in that and I take full control and responsibility of that.
