Deputies responded around 6:40 p.m. to a home on Stone Road in Pittsford for a requested welfare check. One deputy was walking up the driveway when a dog got loose from the home's breezeway and attacked them, biting them in the leg, according to the sheriff's office. The injured deputy suffered a puncture wound before firing two rounds from their service weapon, fatally striking the dog, the sheriff's office said.
