Delbarton, the No. 1-ranked wrestling team in New Jersey, advanced five wrestlers to the semifinals at the Powerade Tournament, putting them in contention for the team title. The team features several nationally ranked wrestlers including Cameron Sontz and JoJo Burke, who secured impressive victories against top competition.

Jayden James of Delbarton , pictured in last season's regional tournament, won by technical fall over Southern's Wyatt Stout in the Powerade Tournament on Friday night. Delbarton , the No. 1-ranked wrestling team in New Jersey , advanced five wrestlers to the semifinals Friday and remains in the thick of the race for the prestigious team title at the Powerade Tournament at Canon-McMillan High School in Canonsburg, Pa.

Sontz, last year’s state champion at 106 pounds, is ranked No. 2 in the nation. The sophomore and top seed was a 3-1 winner over unseeded Wyatt Spencer of Wyoming Seminary . Quenault, the No. 4 seed, squeaked past Jason Torres of Malvern Prep, 1-0. Quenault scored the only point of the bout with an escape with 1:44 left in the third period.

Meanwhile, at 189, the unseeded Betz was an 8-4 winner over unseeded Henry Patts of Franklin Regional , who was coming off an upset of second-seeded Matt Connolly of Malvern Prep. The bout was tied 4-4 after two, but Betz dominated the third period with an escape and takedown.
