Northumberland County span is closed until repairs expected to cost $1 million are completed.

“Even if it is a minor accident we want to know,” Eric High, PennDOT district executive in Montoursville, said Monday.

It inspected the bridge the following day and closed it immediately for safety reasons until repairs estimated to cost $1 million were completed. “We don’t have an exact answer,” Trooper Sara Barrett, a state police spokesperson, responded when asked why there was a delay in notifying PennDOT. An emergency contractor already has begun obtaining the steel needed to make repairs, he said. The goal is to have the bridge reopened in March, he said.
