“Theta Chi International Fraternity is deeply concerned for the safety and well-being of our brother James ‘Jimmy’ Gracey, a member of our chapter at the University of Alabama, who went missing while visiting friends in Barcelona over spring break. Jimmy serves his chapter as both chaplain and one of the philanthropy chairmen, demonstrating a true commitment to his faith, his brothers, and his community. “Since learning of his disappearance, Theta Chi International Fraternity has been in regular communication with federal lawmakers, the University of Alabama, and our chapter members, including those who remain in Barcelona searching tirelessly for Jimmy. Our senior leadership has been in direct contact with them to offer resources, including logistical assistance. “We extend our full support to Jimmy’s family and loved ones, and we stand ready to help them in any way. We ask anyone with knowledge of Jimmy’s whereabouts or the circumstances of his disappearance to directly contact the U.S. Consulate in Barcelona immediately. He was last seen by a friend around 3 a.m. on Tuesday, March 17, at a club, a popular night spot for tourists. He was wearing a white T-shirt, dark pants and a gold chain with a rhinestone cross when last seen.According to Gracey’s family, he never made it back to his Airbnb.
