Members of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity arrive at the Alabama State House for Omega Day, Tuesday, March 17, 2026 – Photo from WAKA Action 8 News Members of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity met have with lawmakers at the Alabama State House who happen to be their fraternity brothers.
They were hosted in the Senate by Omega Brother Sen. Bobby Singleton and in the House of Representatives by Omega Brother Rep. Curtis Travis. At a luncheon, they honored Dr. Joe L. Reed, 1961 graduate of Alabama State University. The fraternity honors a leader at Omega Day each year.Every year they honor someone at their omega day at the Capitol. “We bring together maybe about 150 Omega Brothers from all over the state of Alabama to participate. They will have legislators to come in to talk about different bills that they will be sponsoring. Also, we have our mentees that will be coming in today to learn about the process in terms of what and how laws are made,” Omega Day Chairman Darryl Sinkfield told Action 8 News. Since its beginning more than 100 years ago, the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity has more than 35,000 active members in more than 750 worldwide chapters.Alabama basketball star Aden Holloway arrested on drug charge
