After spending two decades at Gucci, the designer will start his new role on November 1
This morning, Italian fashion house Moschino announced the appointment of Davide Renne as creative director. Jeremy Scott, who was in the position for 10 years, left in March. Renne will officially start on November 1, overseeing women’s and men’s fashion and accessories, and will report to Massimo Ferretti, executive chairman of the label’s parent company, Aeffe S.p.A.
He spent the last two decades at Gucci, most recently as head designer of womenswear. His experience bodes well for this new gig: Perhaps Renne will bring some of that unapologetically bold and outsize Alessandro Michele–style magic to Moschino, a brand that has long defined Italian maximalism, since its founding by Franco Moschino in 1983. As Renne explained, the founder “had a nickname for his design studio: la sala giochi, or the playroom.
