David Davis, a key creator of 1970s television classics, has died.
In 1970 he joined MTM Enterprises with Mary Tyler Moore and Grant Tinker, and was on the ground floor with. The revolutionary feminist workplace comedy debuted that year to tremendous fanfare. Davis was a co-producer and co-wrote several episodes from the first two seasons.
Among them:Mary is put in charge of election night coverage at WJM during a major blizzard and all communication is cut off. In later years, Davis was responsible for tweaking the title sequence for the series each of its seven seasons , but knew well enough to always include the iconic hat toss.
