Soul graduated Monday from a K-9 academy and will join the K-9 unit in Swatara Township.
A Dauphin County police department added a new member.K-9 Soul is joining the Swatara Township police force. He and Officer Matt Kieselowsky graduated Monday from the Iron Rose K-9 Academy in Boiling Springs.Soul was named with the help of Barbara Barksdale, the caretaker of the Historic Midland Cemetery on Kelker Street.
The name is a tribute to the souls buried at the cemetery, which is the final resting place for slaves, former slaves, men of the United States Colored Troops, Buffalo Soldiers and leaders of the area's African-American community.The addition of Soul brings the number of Swatara Township K-9s to four, placing one on each patrol platoon.
