Former council regeneration boss and city property developer, who both deny any wrongdoing, were arrested in 2019 as part of a Merseyside Police corruption investigation
A new date has been set for a court case involving cash seized from a former senior Liverpool City Council director and a prominent city developer.
Court documents revealed that an estimated £3,750 was seized from Mr Kavanagh and an estimated £337,342 was seized from Mr Lawless. Police also seized around 10,442 in Euros from Mr Lawless, according to the documents. The cash in both cases was seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act. Adam Christensen, representing Merseyside Police, told the court that with the criminal investigation still ongoing, the force would seek a further adjournment for the forfeiture application of six months.
On December 4 2020, the ECHO broke the news that then Mayor of Liverpool, Joe Anderson, had been arrested at his home. He was arrested that day - along with four other men - in connection with offences of bribery and witness intimidation as part of the same investigation.
