The Chicagoland area is under a Cold Weather Advisory starting at 9 p.m. Monday, lasting until noon Tuesday. Monday’s high temperatures barely reached double digits, and subzero wind chills persisted throughout the day. Tonight’s Forecast Temperatures are expected to drop to -5 to -10 degrees overnight, with wind chills plunging to dangerous levels between -20 and -30. Exposed skin could experience frostbite within 30 minutes in these conditions.
Skies will be partly to mostly cloudy, accompanied by gusty west-northwest winds. Tuesday’s Outlook Frigid conditions will continue on Tuesday, with daytime highs rising only a few degrees above zero. Wind chills during the day are expected to remain between -15 and -25. Skies will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy, offering little relief from the cold. Tuesday night will bring lows around zero, with wind chills again falling well below zero. Temperatures will begin to climb out of the cold snap on Wednesday, with highs reaching into the 20s. While a few scattered snow showers are possible, most of the day will be mostly cloudy and breezy.Warmer conditions are expected for Thursday and Friday, with lows in the teens and highs in the mid-20s under partly to mostly cloudy skies. The weekend will bring further relief as highs rise into the low to mid-30s, accompanied by partly sunny to mostly cloudy skies
