Almost three weeks later, Her street was visited by contractors hired by the city to pick up debris. As of Wednesday, a month after the storm hit, her storm debris pile was the only one picked up on the entire street.
“We’ve collected about three times as much debris in the same time period that we normally collect,” Gillespie said, attributing the accomplishment to the help of contractor crews. “It’s been cut up and we’re just waiting to put it back out for the next pass of bulk trash because we had so much already,” she said. “We couldn’t clear it all.”
