Four thieves smashed display cases at a Dallas Joyeria Princesa store, stealing an estimated $600,000 worth of jewelry. The owner suspects the culprits are linked to a similar heist in Houston.
Four people were caught on surveillance footage stealing $600k worth of jewelry from Joyeria Princesa at the El Rancho Supermercado in Dallas on Dec. 29, 2024. Four thieves smashed a Dallas jewelry store’s shelves with a hammer before making off with roughly $600,000 worth of jewelry Sunday afternoon in a robbery caught on surveillance camera footage. Cuenca, the store owner, said at about 4 p.m.
, he was helping his mother run the store in the 2500 block of Gus Thomasson Road when four people walked into the building. Cuenca said a store employee called his name, and when he looked up, he saw a man reaching into his jacket. Cuenca said the man began smashing the jewelry store’s display cases while three other people, who were wearing masks, began reaching inside and taking jewelry. He estimates the whole thing lasted about 30 seconds. Cuenca said the suspects emptied out two of the store’s display cases, taking roughly $600,000 worth of merchandise. He also said it appeared the thieves had been casing the store, as they came in just as his mother had left for a quick break and seemingly knew which display cases held the most valuable pieces of jewelry. Cuenca also said he believes the suspects may be the same ones who robbed a Houston jewelry store in November. The Houston store was located inside an El Rancho Supermercado grocery store, just like Joyeria Princesa, Cuenca said, and facial features on one of the suspects in each case appeared to match. Cuenca said none of the jewelry was insured, but he said the store plans to implement extra security measures to prevent a future robbery. Cuenca said the robbery is especially tough due to the hard work his mother has done to build the business. “This is just a huge blow, because she’s here day in and day out, from 10 to eight every day,” Cuenca said. “Whenever she came back from the bathroom and saw the glass on the floor, it was just really heartbreaking
