Police are investigating a smash-and-grab robbery at a jewelry store in Far East Dallas. Four suspects were captured on video smashing displays and stealing gold chains and other jewelry. A possible fifth suspect may have acted as a lookout.
Police are looking for a group of suspects in a smash-and-grab at a Far East Dallas jewelry business. Video shows four suspects smashing jewelry store displays at Joyeria Princesa, a jewelry business located inside the El Rancho Supermercado at Gus Thomasson and Ferguson Roads on Sunday afternoon. In the video, the suspects spent less than 30 seconds grabbing gold chains and other jewelry. The store's owner said one of the chains that was stolen was worth $15,000.
Three of the suspects were wearing masks at the time, one was not. The store owners say there is another video they did not release that shows a possible fifth suspect working as a lookout. A partial license plate image was given to Dallas police investigators. Police have not identified the suspects. Last month, a similar smash-and-grab happened at a jewelry store inside an El Rancho Supermercado in Houston. The Harris County Sheriff tells FOX 4 it looks like the incidents could be connected. Angel Cuenca was working at the store on Sunday afternoon to give his mother, the store's owner, a break. 'It all happened so quickly, in 30 seconds, I didn’t have a chance to react how I wanted to,' recalled Cuenca. 'Luckily everyone is okay, but it's sickening the trauma my family had to endure yesterday.' Cuenca says his mother opened the store in 2010 and has worked long hours to make the business a success. 'It's unfortunate, someone working 80 hours a week and to have that snatched away. It put me through Texas Tech and SMU,' Cuenca said
