Heavy rain and flooding are possible with storms expected in the Dallas-Fort Worth area Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth.
Rain chances will persist in North Texas through the weekend, along with a cold front early Sunday that will push temperatures to the mid 60s.
The heaviest rain totals are expected west of the Tarrant County, but flooding could still occur in Dallas and Fort Worth, said Matt Bishop, a NWS Fort Worth meteorologist. As of noon Wednesday, Dallas and Tarrant counties were not under a flood watch, the NWS Fort Worth website showed.Bishop said the high amount of development and concrete in urban areas like Dallas and Fort Worth can contribute to flash flooding.“You can still get flooding outside of a flood watch,” Bishop said.
A cold front could bring a round of storms to the Dallas-Fort Worth area Friday evening and early Saturday, according to Bishop.A strong cold front arriving early Sunday will “make things much colder through Halloween,” Bishop said.
