Michelle Mann OZARK- “We have a rich history in Dale County and worship is an important part of who we are,” Pastor Tim Bates told several hundred people of all ages and religious denominations gathered at the Ozark Civic Center for the Dale 200 Countywide Workship Service.

“We are here to worship Him as a community of believers,” Bates said. “Let us keep the focus on Jesus.” People are also reading… The oldest church in Dale County is the Claybank Church built in 1830, said St. Paul AME Church Pastor Ulysses Kincey Jr. The next year, an African Episcopal Methodist Church was formed from that church. Kincey said that another early church, Mount Mariah, was named for the Creek Indian who was his great grandmother. “A lot of things that happened in the past have brought us to the point where we are now,” he said.

“The church played a vital part in the formation of this county and plays a vital part in the continuation of this county,” said Ozark First Assembly Lead Pastor Brian Presley. “Our mission hasn’t changed. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works and glorify our Father who is in heaven,” he said. “We are all part of fellowships of the body of Christ. God has called us to let our light shine as a city upon the hill with His spirit.
