Inside the walls of Dale County High School is a classroom like no other – Mrs. T’s classroom.DALE CO., Ala. - News4 and All In Credit Union continue to highlight teachers going above and beyond for their students.News4′s September Teacher of the Month is Andrea Thompson .“It all comes from getting to know students. That’s my first priority: building that positive relationship with them,” Thompson said.One of her students, Harmony Jones, said she feels motivated to learn.
“I feel like when I walked in the classroom for my first day, I was nervous, but she has a different vibe. It’s very homey, it makes you feel comfortable,” Jones said.“I hope that what I am doing helps them to become a better version of themselves, not only just studying English content, but a better citizen -- a better person,” Thompson said.
This is Thompson’s fourth year teaching at Dale County High School, but she has been in education for 9 years.The Dothan native teaches 11th-grade English and ACT prep classes.“She taught me how to be proactive,” Jones said. “I feel like she is a very outstanding teacher and a great role model.” One of Thompson’s greatest joys is seeing all that her students are accomplishing after they leave her classroom.
“Just coming back and telling me everything that they learned in here and how they are applying it in their lives now, that’s just so rewarding and that’s what drives me every day to come and give my best,” Thompson said.Subscribe to our
