Several Quakertown High School students were taken into custody on Friday during a student walkout protesting federal immigration enforcement.

” Videos taken by bystanders during the incident showed police, adults and teens fighting at times. One video showed a man — later identified as Police Chief Scott McElree — putting a student in a chokehold. McElree was not wearing a police uniform at the time. Police said about five or six minors and one adult were taken into custody. It is not clear if they were still being detained over the weekend. The videos and arrests have led to complaints and calls for answers from parents and area civil rights organizations. “When young people are involved in an encounter with law enforcement, the standard for care, restraint and adherence to policy are high and must be adhered to,” Bucks County NAACP President Adrienne King said during a press conference on Saturday,“This is not controversial. It is expected. Video circulating publicly has raised serious questions in our community.
