NEW YORK -- A person has been rescued after spending the night trapped inside a bank vault in Midtown, Manhattan. CBS New York learned the person was a customer who had been trapped in the vault since 9 p.m. Tuesday. Watch Chopper 2 over the sceneCBS New York's Zinnia Maldonado is live on the scene along 47th Street between 5th and 6th avenues.Fire officials said they used a phone and cameras inside the vault to communicate with the victim overnight.

This vault has very large concrete walls, with a steel reinforcing bar and also steel plating,' one fire official told reporters on the scene. 'The process was started to breach the wall at the vault -- about 30 inches, or so, of concrete. We started doing that, we got to the point where we got to the metal plating, we determined that at that point, after about 10 hours, that we would hold off and see if the doors would open automatically.
