Firefighters responded Friday night to a fire near the intersection of the Palmer-Wasilla Highway and 49th State Street Palmer Fire & Rescue said in a social media post shortly before 8 p.m. that crews were handling a fire at a car wash near the intersection. Drivers were asked to use alternative routes and to yield to emergency vehicles while responders worked at the scene. An official with Palmer Fire & Rescue told Alaska’s News Source the building was not occupied and no injuries have been reported.Photos shared by Palmer Fire & Rescue showed multiple fire engines on scene and heavy flames visible near the building.
