In the statement provided to CBS 21, the energy company clarified, saying the 2031 date relates to the "certainty of full deliverability of its capacity injection rights" and is based on the first phase of the energy interconnection, PJM .
"The Crane restart remains on track for the second half of 2027, and we continue to expect to be able to deliver energy to the grid at that time," Constellation Energy confirmed to CBS 21 in a statement.that the former "Three Mile Island" nuclear power plant in central Pennsylvania, now known as the Crane Clean Energy Center, would likely not be able to connect to the power grid until 2031. “My people will have this plant ready to start in 2027. I guarantee it. We have to make sure that PJM and the local utilities get it in or connected to the grid on that timeline. The relentless will of Secretary Wright will be deployed in that direction shortly, I am confident,” said Consetllation Energy CEO Joseph Dominguez. He continued by claiming the energy group has the staffing and licensed operators—all the critical components, as he described it. With that in place, Dominguez said the plant will be able to fuel the reactor in the second quarter of 2027 "as needed by the American people." Dominguez said work is proceeding well ahead of schedule and all critical paths for the restart can be completed in early 2027 as long as all necessary regulatory approvals have been obtained.“I'm very happy with the way the team has responded. I'm very happy with the way the vendors have responded.
