Craig Johnson, a man who represented Anchorage in the Alaska House of Representatives for over a decade, has passed away, according to Gov. Mike Dunleavy.
ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Craig Johnson , a man who represented Anchorage in the Alaska House of Representatives for over a decade, has died, according to Gov. Mike Dunleavy . Johnson was 72.“ Craig Johnson always stood for what was right and fought for sensible solutions in response to Alaska’s challenges.
I’m grateful to have called him a friend. Rose and I will be praying for comfort for Nancy and their family during this difficult time,” Dunleavy said. Johnson was born on Nov. 22, 1953 in Kermit, Texas. He graduated from Miami High School in Oklahoma and attended Northeast Oklahoma A&M and Oklahoma State University. He moved to Alaska in 1978. Johnson previously worked as a legislative aide, was the general manager of the Alaska Journal of Commerce and Alaska Military Weekly and was the vice president/general manager of KYMG radio. Johnson began serving in the Alaska House of Representatives in 2007 as a Republican, serving for 10 consecutive years, then another term during the 33rd Legislature from 2023–25.
